Divyagandham

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारम् भुजगेन्द्रहारम्। सदावसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि॥

“He who is white as Camphor (Karpur Gauram), the incarnation of compassion (Karunavataram)...” This great āratī mantra begins by naming this very fragrance. And why Kapoor? Because camphor is the symbol of sāttvik purity and detachment. When it burns, it leaves no residue, no trace behind, symbolizing the burning away of the ego and the samsāra (worldly existence) until only the pure, compassionate Self remains. Offering this Kapoor fragrance is a direct salutation to His pure, formless nature.
