Divyagandham

ॐ गं गणपतये नमः।

This is the powerful bīja (seed) mantra of Lord Ganesha. 'Om' is the universal sound. 'Gam' is the sound-form of Ganesha himself, vibrating with his energy to remove obstacles (vighna). 'Ganapataye' is his name as the Lord of all beings. 'Namah' is 'I bow'. We invoke the Lord of beginnings. And why Khus (Vetiver)? Because Ganesha is the Lord of the Mooladhara (root) chakra, the foundation, the earth element. The deep, cooling, and grounding scent of Khus (also known as Usira or vetiver) is the very fragrance of the bhūmi (earth). It calms the mind, removes agitation, and centers our energy, preparing a stable, clear, and firm foundation from which to begin any new work.
